Arriving at Isle of Man Airport

You can arrive at the airport with the following:

• Buses
• Taxis
• Patient transfer
• There are disabled parking spaces. If you have a blue badge, no matter where you are parked you will only pay standard tariff as long as your blue badge is displayed

Checking in

You may need to wait in the check in area if you require special assistance.

• Your baggage will be taken by the ground handling agent
• Your baggage will be put in the hold on the plane
• The Sunflower lanyards are available at the Information desk
• Available for anybody

Security

To get to the departure lounges after checking in, you must then pass through security.

You will need to do the following:

• Put your belongings in a tray
• Staff will tell you what else you need to put in, in case you missed some
• Headphones/earphones have to go in a tray
• Electrical items should be taken out of your bags and onto a tray
• Liquids should be put in a clear plastic bag and should be 100ml at maximum
• The tray will then pass through an x-ray
• Wait by the metal detector
• Staff will ask you to come through the metal detector
• The metal detector might make a beeping noise
• This noise will sound for a short time and will stop
• Collect your belongings from the trays

Departure lounge

• After security, you enter the departure lounge
• There is also a shop and a Costa café for you to use while waiting for your flight.
• There are screens that show flight information which show the time and the gate for your flights

Departure gate

When your plane is ready for departure do the following:

• Have your passport and boarding pass ready
• Staff will take your passport and boarding pass from you to check them
• Wait until they are returned to you
• You might go to another room to wait to board
• You will then go onto the plane

Boarding

• If you are challenged getting onto the plane, speak to staff and they can provide you assistance with equipment such as an ambulift or an air bridge
  
  
• You may notice smells and loud noises from the planes, these are normal and part of the aircraft preparing for departure
  
  
• Airport staff will tell you where to go so you can get on the plane
  
  
• Steps might be different on each plane

Plane spotting

Here is what you can expect to see at Isle of Man Airport:

Departing

When you board the plane, do the following:

• Find your seat
• Place cabin bag/coat in overhead locker
• Sit down and put your seatbelt on
• You must wear a seatbelt
• Remain quiet during cabin crew briefing
• The plane will take off shortly after

Arriving

When you land, wait to be told what to do. You will be asked to:

• Undo seatbelt
• Collect your things
• Leave the plane
• Go into terminal
• Collect your bags that were put in the hold
• You can now leave the airport
