Isle of Man Airport completes terminal upgrade and airside catering refurbishment

Travellers departing from the Isle of Man Airport will now benefit from an enhanced lounge experience, following the completion of this phase of the terminal upgrade programme.
Refit Finalised - Key Improvements Delivered
The departure lounge transformation has been completed, delivering a refreshed and more functional space for travellers:
Recent milestones include:
- New carpeting and full redecoration have been completed in the lounge area near Gates 4 & 5.
- 190 new seats have been installed in the rear waiting area, with a further 92 seats added to the downstairs holding lounge.
Passenger-Informed Design
The seating upgrades were shaped by a collaborative process involving:
- Direct passenger feedback
- Input from the Frequent Passenger Group
- Recommendations from the Accessibility Group
- A review of best practices from other regional airports
Smart Seating Solutions
The new seating was selected to balance comfort, accessibility, durability, and value for money. Key features include:
- Wider, more accessible seating options with designated areas based on accessibility advice
- Modular layouts to accommodate varying passenger needs
- Robust, hygienic materials suitable for high-traffic environments
Enhanced Seating Zones
The redesigned lounge now offers a variety of seating zones tailored to different traveller preferences:
- High-top tables with integrated power outlets, ideal for working or reading
- Standard seating positioned for clear visibility of flight information screens
- Dining-style seating located near the bar and Costa, offering a relaxed environment for refreshments
Passenger Experience
“The new seating layout has made a real difference - it’s more comfortable, and the power outlets are a great touch,” said a frequent flyer.
Infrastructure Minister Dr Michelle Haywood MHK said: ‘This upgrade forms part of the Isle of Man Airport’s ongoing strategy to enhance the travel experience and deliver a more welcoming, functional, and inclusive environment for all who pass through the airport.’
