Countdown to Christmas – Your Festive Travel Guide
Published: 01 December 2025

Whether you’re heading home or jetting off for a festive adventure, we’re here to make your journey merry and bright.
At the Isle of Man Airport, we love this time of year, the sparkle, the excitement, and the joy of connecting people with loved ones. Christmas is one of our busiest seasons, so a little planning can make your trip smooth and stress-free.
Here are our top tips for happy holiday travel:
Pack smart - gifts like perfume or aftershaves
Liquids, pastes and gels must be in containers of 100ml or less and placed in one clear, reseal able bag (20x20cm). Anything over 100ml - must go in checked baggage or be disposed of at security.
Hold off on wrapping gifts
Security may need to inspect them, so wrap when you arrive at your destination. If gifts are already wrapped, pop them in your checked luggage. The same applies to sealed perfume boxes, pack them in checked baggage whenever possible.
Christmas crackers
Not permitted in hand luggage. Please place them in checked baggage and keep them in their original packaging.
Coats off, devices out
Remove bulky clothing and place laptops, tablets and large electronics in trays separately for a quicker security check.
Mind your festive treats
Chocolates are fine, but avoid carrying alcohol or food over 100ml in hand luggage.
Arrive early
Queues can be longer at Christmas, so allow extra time for a relaxed start to your journey and maybe a mince pie in the departure lounge.

From all of us at Isle of Man Airport, we wish you safe travels and a very happy holiday season!
