Airfield Operations
The Airfield Operations primary responsibilities include conducting thorough airside inspections and audits to ensure regulatory compliance and aviation standards are met. They coordinate and supervise contractors working airside, ensuring their activities align with our stringent safety protocols. Reporting and documenting hazards or incidents is a critical part of the role, as is resolving operational issues through situational analyses and risk assessments.
The operational policies and procedures are used to manage the airside environment safely, in line with the Aerodrome Safety Management System (SMS).
Communication is vital to the role. Internally, they collaborate with colleagues within the operations department, communicate directly with air traffic control, liaise with airport operations staff, and attend safety and operational committee meetings. The department also coordinate with airport fire services, medical teams, and other emergency services during incidents or accidents. Externally, they work with ground handling agencies, private hangar owners, aviation fuel suppliers, third-party contractors, private landowners, and other government departments.
