G-AGJZ, BEA Pioneer Class Douglas DC-3, Ronaldsway Airport, circa 1960. Former HMS Urley Control Tower as built in 1944. The new visual control room was added on top circa 1960, but the side extensions to the top of the tower, have not yet been added. The emergency vehicles garage building is to the left, and still to be built is the new Departure Pier that joined the 1953 built terminal building, to the control tower, thus closing the 'through taxiway' that is being used by this DC-3. The two concrete blocks in the foreground, were to display flag poles, on suitable occasions.
